Client wants to Back up the data in their production environment to the test instance of Acumatica. Currently we use a single instance multi tenant environment which has production, UAT & test intance for this client. Production is under tenent id 2 and Test instance is under tenant id 3.

We need to clarify would there be any issues if we perform this process of creating a snapshot of live environment and restoring it in the test instance and what impact would it have in the whole system since we run a single instance multi tenant environment.

What will be the impact that would have on the data that are already in the test environment would they get override when we do the restoration or would they be duplicated and the would there be any impact in the current configurations/Customizations  of the production environment?

Hello @sandaruwadanamby42 ,

You may Copy (as Mani suggests) or Restore your Snapshot of live

  1. over an existing test tenant or
  2. over a new empty tenant.

If copying over an existing test tenant, existing test data will be overwritten.  Check In with your staff and your Partner(s) first, to make sure no one has unfinished work in Test, such as partially designed reports.

After restoring the snapshot, there is an Action Item on the … menu at the top of Tenants screen:

Change to Test Tenant.

After you Change to Test Tenant, your new test tenant won’t count against your Single Instance requirement. Only two simultaneous users may sign into the new test tenant.

The client still needs to keep an eye on total space used across all tenants of your instance.

Hope this helps.

@sandaruwadanamby42

Does the Production and Test tenant in single instance.

If yes use copy feature of tenant from Prod - Test to get the latest data.
