Excel Grid Button Grayed Out in Acumatica Report Designer

When working in the Acumatica Report Designer, the Excel Grid button has become grayed out and unclickable. Strangely, this does not affect the actual Excel export functionality — my custom reports still export to Excel successfully.
 

What would cause the Excel Grid button in Report Designer to be disabled, while report export to Excel remains fully functional? Can I fix it?

If excel mode set to “Auto”, the button is disabled. While set it to Manual, the button is enabled. But Auto is fine.
