We want to use scrap as a way to track raw material loss when getting non conforming product.  The problem we discovered is that we backflush boxes and pallets in the BOM.  When we scrap product, we do not use a box or pallet.  How do we stop the system from adding those in a material backflush issue on scrap moves?

You are correct - when you setup a material to backflush it will issue the material - there are no advanced rules to sometimes issue and sometimes scrap.  The recommendation would be to turn off backflush of material.

Your question is a bit hard to follow for me.

Scrapping raw material of a production item has to be done as an inventory transaction - if that is what you are asking.

Sorry I wasn’t clear.  For one example, we package silicone caulk cartridges.  We package 24 per box, and 80 boxes on one pallet.  Sometimes during the cartridge filling operation the cartridge may not fill properly.  We accumulate the cartridges so at the end of the job when we do our MOVE, we can enter the number of conforming product, and the number of scrap product made.  For example, if we did 10 scrap parts, we have 10 finished goods’ worth of raw materials used.  Unfortunately Acumatica will automatically create the material issue for any backflushed parts defined in that finished good’s BOM.  That’s great for the caulk cartridge shell and plungers, but they never reach the box or pallet so we don’t want those to backflush.  It would be helpful to have a checkbox to indicate if a backflushed item would be issued for scrap product.  I haven’t found a way to turn this off outside of turning off backflush completely.  Does that make sense?
