No, you cannot use the Product Configurator on a production order when the order type has Function = Disassemble. Picking a configured product to disassemble is not supported today.

The Product Configurator is designed to build a product, it generates the material list and routing from the template BOM and the options selected. A disassembly order works in the opposite direction, breaking down a structure that already exists, so the configuration process does not apply to it.

Although you cannot use the Configurator, you certainly use the data from the Configuration results tables to create an import scenario to load the Materials to a production order.   This article explains the DAC’s used in Manufacturing and it includes the configuration results table.

Be sure to  Use the Included flag to get only the options that were selected. I’ve attached a GI to list the options selected in a configuration.

@dgodsill97 Thanks for the suggesting but I already tried we can’t use Product Configurator to Disassembly orders. I tried to configure in sales order and tried to use that results to disassemble order but it was not working.

Of course you can’t use the Configurator, but you can use the data (Options) from the Configurator tables to create a disassembly production order (set the source to none) and load the materials to the production order.

@dgodsill97,

Thanks for the reply. I believe the ability to use the captured Product Configurator results during disassembly should be added. I will create a new Idea for this.

This scenario would be very helpful for customers who use the Product Configurator for kitting-type functionality. I have a customer who went live last week, and the lack of this functionality is creating a significant amount of manual work when processing item returns. When an item is returned, we are able to configure the item on the Return Sales Order receipt type line, but we cannot use the captured configuration results when performing the disassembly. Having the ability to carry the configuration results from the return transaction into the disassembly process would make the process much more efficient and eliminate a lot of manual effort.
