Does the Variants Module Support a Bill of Materials (Production) Function?

Hello everyone,
I have a customer asking whether Matrix items can support the bill of materials (BOM) functionality.

 

Where can I get some information about that ?

We would need more details on how that customer is expecting to use the Stock Item and BOM together.  Matrix Items are really a collection of Stock Items based on the Variants.  Each of those those Stock Items could have it’s own BOM.  If that is all they are asking then, yes.   But my guess is that there is more to it.  We would need more details to fully answer the question.
