Import Scenario to import File attachement

How do I import the attachment with an import scenario?   The AP Document has an file attachment.  I am creating the AR Document based on the document lines in the AP Document.

I can get the attachment file in an generic inquiry - On the APInvoice it is the NoteId

With the import scenario I have the option to update the Note Text field but do not find the option to update the Files.

At the present time, functionality to import file attachments does not exist.  This would be a great product idea to add as I have handled several support cases where this functionality was asked about.

Hi @retha50 ,

The REST API allows you to upload files. We created a small utility using C# to upload files from a folder based on a naming convention.

Hi @lauraj46

It looks like the link you provided is not working.  Do you have a valid link or could send some additional information?

I look foward to hearing from you. :)

Hi @lauraj46

Do you still have that utility? I was not able to find a link to download and test.

Hi @zillay ,

Yes, the utility is available to license, we do not have a link to download.  Please send me a message from the Contact page on our website and we can arrange a time to discuss or I can send you the user’s guide.

Thanks,

Laura

@ed.goodman I wanted to check and make sure that this is still the case. Does Acumatica still not support importing file attachments?

@jsherman21

Checked the initial release notes for version 2023 R2 and did not see anything there regarding being able to import file attachments, so I would say the functionality is still not available.

@jsherman21,

Here is the product idea if you would like to vote for it.

I put my vote in on the product idea.  I agree that this should be provided through an import scenario rather than custom code, but you don’t need to license a utility program to do it.  You can set up a basic  Powershell script to perform the action or use other code/tools to do it.  CoPilot was somewhat helpful in this aspect, but you have to be very specific with your instructions or it will make assumptions and give incorrect guidance based on older versions or based on an assumed version of Powershell.  I had several issues with the construct of the urls needed and session handling that were due to those assumptions. Most notably, CoPilot did not understand that the endpoint url for login/logout is different than the endpoint url for the vendor actions and that the noteID is not required to attach a file in later versions.

We are currently implementing on 24R1 (but about to upgrade to 25R2), converting over from a 30-year-old SAP ECC instance.  We have vendor attachments (such as signed W-9 forms) that need to be moved from the Vendor master GOS in SAP to the Vendor business account file storage in Acumatica. As part of the conversion extract, I wrote a program in SAP to extract the files from GOS and then drop them to a folder with the leading part of the filename as the vendor ID. I then ran my Powershell script to read the folder and attach files to the respective vendor records in Acumatica.  I’m not overly concerned with logging & verification, so I didn’t make the script too robust.  An example is attached in text file format.  My actual script was executed from Powershell v7.
