Question

Change subaccount

When processing a Purchase Receipt, the system automatically generates a Journal Transaction hitting Account A and Account B based on the default setup.

Is there a way to change the Subaccount for Account A for one specific Purchase Receipt only? I am aware that I can use the Reclassify feature if the document is already Released, but I want to know how to modify the Subaccount at the point of entry before the transaction is finalized.

@nomii How Are we able to identify the specific purchase receipt within the system, and if there is any indication that the subaccount should be updated for that receipt, can we develop a business event to trigger the change and validate the outcome?

@nomii  For a one-time change on a Purchase Receipt, you can:

  1. Check if the Subaccount field is editable on the receipt line
    • If it is, you can directly override the Subaccount for that specific line before releasing the document.
  2. If the field is not editable  The system is deriving the Subaccount from the mask, so you have these workable options:
    • Temporarily assign a different Posting Class (with the desired Subaccount structure) to the inventory item for that receipt, then switch it back.
    • Adjust the Subaccount Mask only if the change can be controlled via a segment (like Warehouse or Vendor), though this impacts more than one transaction.
  3. Enable a customization to allow manual Subaccount override on the Purchase Receipt line. This gives you full control before release without affecting other transactions.

If not works then unfortunately the only standard option remains Reclassification after release.
