Field service question - cloud based Acumatica

Hey community, wondering if anyone can speak to issues with field team members having connectivity issues with Acumatica on a server hosted instance versus cloud based? We currently host on our server, but our team members occasionally have problems in the field when leaving a job and it not registering in Acumatica. Curious, for users who have tried both or just utilized the cloud-based system, do you encounter issues with team members trying to “complete” an appointment and connectivitiy issues prevent from doing so?

An interesting insight from this thread is that hosting model isn't the sole variable. Moving from your own server to cloud may not resolve the connectivity issues, because either way the mobile app needs a live internet connection to complete and sync an appointment — which is the point @Naveen Boga made. What actually addresses the problem is offline capability, and that's what Alan's reply identifies.

There are other options available aside from Jigx: there are several ISV solutions offering offline mobile for Acumatica Field Service, and they differ in scope, licensing, and how much of the appointment workflow they cover. Worth browsing the  Acumatica Marketplace and comparing a couple before committing, rather than treating any single recommendation as the answer.

There's also an earlier thread covering the same ground that may be useful:

@mpanella — if it's helpful, the thing I'd establish first is whether the failures are genuinely connectivity at the job site or something else on the session side, since @KrunalDoshi’s suggestion about the request profiler would provide additional information. Worth ruling out before evaluating any third-party app.

Hi @mpanella,

You can try increasing the session timeout. Also, enabling request profiler may help you give more information if there is any disconnection with SQL or site. That will give you more information.

Hope this helps!

@mpanella  In my experience, the stability of the network connection at the job site can be a bigger factor than whether Acumatica is hosted on-premises or in the cloud. Cloud hosting still requires a reliable connection to complete and sync appointments.

You could have a look at Jigx Forms, their app has offline capability and the first 3 users are free so you could test it out

https://jigx.com/products/jigxfrontline-for-acumatica/

I’ve no connection to Jigx, I just like their platform.
