Edit description after release

Can anyone explain to me why the description can’t be edited after a document is released? It’s only a text field. There’s zero impact on financial numbers. What could be the logical reason why not? 

I know this subject has been asked about in this community group before. Yet somehow the threads have disappeared. It does show up in the ideas section, but it’s been left hanging for 10 years. What am I missing? Is there a way to make simple text edits and I just haven’t figured it out? 

It is this specific field I would like to be able to edit.

Short answer is the Status workflow disables the fields unless explicitly are made editable after a document is being removed from hold. You will need a small customization either through the customizaion editor or a piece of C# code. Why it is so is a question to Acumatica but with the current software design this is the situation.
