I’m going live on Acumatica 8/3 (leaving DDI after 20+ years). We're an inventory-based B2B wholesale distribution business with our own fleet of delivery trucks. Since it’s cloud-based, I’ve been eager to see how much functionality we can get out of the mobile app…….my preliminary evaluation of the app is that it seems to have limited transactional functionality, but I’m eager to hear from folks in the community (especially users with their own fleet of delivery vehicles) how they leverage the app. Can the native app be used by delivery drivers for proof of delivery purposes? Is there signature-capture functionality in the app?

Thanks.

We use the mobile app with field service, and we’re currently planning on doing signature capture on field service appointments.  The service appointment screen has a signature capture action on it that lets someone sign the screen.  The signature is stored as an image attachment on the appointment.

I don’t see this in other screens, though.  Most (maybe all) screens do have an “Attach” button, though that can connect directly to the camera.  Since the actual signature capture option on appointments may not work for us (it doesn’t present anything on the screen that the customer is signing for, so we’re not sure if our auditors would agree that just having a signature attached to an appointment would be good enough), we’re probably going to have the customer sign a form and then use the Attach button to snap a picture of the form.  We still get the signature but also all of the legalese that the customer is actually signing for.

Hi @mjpeters,
I've seen many users used the mobile app primarily for warehouse operations, approvals, and basic transactions. For delivery drivers, the native app has some limitations. While it supports mobile-friendly screens and can be customized, it doesn't provide out-of-the-box proof of delivery with signature capture as a standard feature. If POD and driver signatures are key requirements, you'll likely need a customization or a third-party delivery solution integrated with Acumatica. The good news is that the mobile app framework is quite flexible, so it's possible to build a custom mobile screen to capture signatures and attach them to delivery documents if needed.

Hi @mjpeters,

While the mobile app does not contain a large number of “transaction” screens, screens can easily be added to the mobile app with light/low/no code as mentioned above by @Dipak Nilkanth.

Regarding your signature, there is a fairly easy way to add a signature option to any transaction in Acumatica on the mobile app through a Customization Project. What it does is it gives a blank signature screen on the mobile app which then saves the signature as an activity attached to the transaction which can easily be seen in the web tranasction.

We are working on a community webinar about this for I believe August. Stay tuned for that, but it is a really neat feature of Acumatica. Feel free to message me if you have additional questions about it.

Cheers,

RJ

There are some WMS ISV solutions that support own fleet trucks.  To find out more about WMS ISVs and what they offer, please see https://www.acumatica.com/acumatica-marketplace/ and search under Warehouse Management.

Is the ‘Process Shipments’ screen accessible in the mobile app?

Hi @mjpeters,
The ‘Process Shipments’ screen is not available by default in the Acumatica Mobile App.

If you want to access it from the mobile application, you'll need to expose the screen through the Mobile Application section in the Customization Project Editor. Once it is added to the mobile workspace and configured appropriately with each needed field, it will be available in the Acumatica Mobile App.

Hi @mjpeters ,

Yes, the Acumatica mobile app can support signature capture, but I would be careful about assuming the native app is a complete proof-of-delivery solution out of the box for a wholesale delivery fleet.

Acumatica’s mobile framework has a Sign Report / signature capture behavior that can capture a signature and attach it back to an Acumatica record/report. There are also community examples of exposing shipment actions like Sign and Confirm Shipment on the mobile app.

Below are some links which you can explore more on feature-

Hope above helps!!
