Question

Discount Per Unit Price

I see that a couple of years ago there was discussion about per unit discount.  We are building our Acumatica instance and stuck because we need a way to discount per gallon.  Fuel customers focus on the list price and offering a .20 discount is needed.  Sale price worksheets do not work for what we need.  Has there been any further development on this concept?  Any other ideas besides custom developing a solution?

Hi there,

Per-unit or per-gallon discounting comes up pretty often in fuel and commodity scenarios, and you’re right that the standard sale price worksheets in Acumatica can feel limiting for that type of calculation.

If you want to avoid custom development, one option that many Acumatica users take is to use an external pricing engine that allows rules like “discount X per gallon,” volume-based adjustments, or even tiered pricing based on UOM. Rockton Pricing Management is one example of a tool that plugs into Acumatica and handles those scenarios without needing to customize your instance. Sharing here in case it helps: https://www.rocktonsoftware.com/price-management-software/

The nice thing is that the pricing logic runs behind the scenes. Users stay in Acumatica, but the system returns the correct calculated price based on whatever rules you set up, including per-unit discounts.

If you want to sanity-check your exact scenario, feel free to describe it and I’m happy to offer ideas on how others approach it.

Hope this was helpful!
