I am unfamiliar with anything involving the Microsoft SQL Server. I have downloaded the Microsoft Server 2022 Developer from microsoft, but when I try to deploy a new instance of Acumatica it begins and then just disappears when it starts the DB install.

Have you checked the System Requirements for Workstations for Acumatica?
Have you installed IIS version 10 in your system? Please check if all the required configuration settings or Windows features are turned on from IIS.
If all the settings are proper and you are not able to create an instance still please go through the S100 System Administration Acumatica community training course.
