Shopify "Action needed: Test apps by Oct 1" notice flagging the Acumatica ERP Connector (ship and pickup in one order)

Hello everyone,

We recently received an email from Shopify titled "Action needed: Test apps by Oct 1 for fulfillment updates." It lists our Acumatica ERP Connector (the custom app used by Acumatica's built-in Shopify connector) as possibly needing an update for Shopify's new "ship and pickup in one order" feature.

Shopify is asking the app developer to test in their feature preview and then submit a compatibility confirmation form. The form asks us to confirm that:

  1. The app does not create, update, or delete merchant delivery (shipping) profiles (market-driven shipping), and
  2. The app correctly handles orders with multiple delivery groups and multiple fulfillment orders, such as one item shipped and one item picked up in the same order.

We are currently on Acumatica 2025 R1 and plan to upgrade to 2026 R1 later this year.

Has anyone else received this notice? I would really appreciate any guidance on:

  • Whether Acumatica has confirmed that the Shopify connector is compatible with these changes, in 2025 R1 or 2026 R1
  • Whether you submitted Shopify's compatibility form yourself, or waited for Acumatica or your partner to confirm
  • Any steps you took or issues you found when testing mixed shipping and pickup orders

Thank you in advance for your help!

@syalla Shopify's email asks the developer who created that custom app to test it before you submit the form. With the custom-app connection, that's your team or your partner, not Acumatica. I haven't found any statement from Acumatica on this feature for 2025 R1 or 2026 R1.

Your checkout won't offer ship and pickup in one order until you activate it under Settings > Feature test drives, or until Shopify releases it to all Plus organizations on July 1, 2027. It also needs at least one location activated for in-store pickup. Details are on Shopify's help page: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/checkout-settings/ship-and-pickup

In the 2026 R1 connector code, point 1 holds: it never creates, updates, or deletes delivery profiles. I wouldn't confirm point 2 yet. The connector fulfills through fulfillment orders but never checks whether one is shipping or pickup, so each shipped line is fulfilled against whichever open fulfillment order holds that item. It also takes one Ship Via for the whole sales order from the singular shippingLine field. The first two lines of the readiness checklist in the guide you attached cover both.

To test, connect a Plus dev store created with the ship and pickup preview to a sandbox copy of your tenant, not production. Place one order with a shipped item and a pickup item. Check the Ship Via and each line's warehouse on the imported order. Then ship only the shipped item and confirm the pickup fulfillment order stays open in Shopify.

@syalla

Hello,

The Acumatica app does not create, update, or delete merchant delivery (shipping) profiles that are managed by the marketplace (market-driven shipping).

Regarding the ability to handle orders with multiple delivery groups and multiple fulfillment orders, such as an order where one item is shipped and another item is picked up, the current Shopify connector supports only orders with a single shipping method. This limitation extends beyond the connector itself. Because the shipping method is determined by the Ship Via code on the Sales Order and cannot be defined per order line currently. The enhancement to determine shipping options at the order line level and support them in the Shopify connector is planned for future releases (27R2).
