Cannot edit template ID on stock item 2023R1

We have just upgraded from 2019R2 to 2023R1. In 2019R2 I was previously able to change the template ID of an existing and assigned stock item if I had the “Edit Template ID” checkbox enabled in the item class. Today I went to do that and the Template ID is greyed out and unable to be edited. Is this a bug or new behavior? Is there anyway around this without making a customization to reenable this field?

It also is not limited to this one SKU but any with a template item on it can no longer be changed.

If you have Commerce Module Enabled then use the customization from this link 


If you do not have Commerce Module enabled, then use the attached customization(“”) .

Hi @KarthikGajendran 

To allow edit template ID, do we need to Publish customizaiton package as mandatory? I have enabled template Items check box in the “ Enable /Disable Features”

After Publishing customization packages, we will get a option to change the template Items under stock Item. Make sure you enabled the “ allow edit template ID” in Item class.
