We have a client who is live on BigCommerce and wants to import their existing stock item catalog into Acumatica first to get Stock items set up and the External ID links established, then switch the sync direction to Export with Acumatica as the master going forward. Has anyone done this before? What's the recommended way to manage this? can we map item class using a custom field from BC to Acumatica to match it to the correct item class using import mapping? And once you flip to Export, does the connector pick up the existing External ID links and update the BC products cleanly without creating duplicates?

@mali94 , it is possible. Please refer to this help section: https://help.acumatica.com/(W(2))/Help?ScreenId=ShowWiki&pageid=a1a11d4c-fd0b-4b4b-1298-9813753b0784

I would recommend to do this one-by-one at first, and then in small batches before you attempt to do a full sync.

But to answer your question, yes, once the products are imported, you can switch the direction and have Acumatica update BigCommerce.

@Yuri Karpenko Thank you for getting back - However the article you shared is for Matrix items - Can we do the same for Stock item ( items that are not Matrix item ) - How can we make sure we can make the imported items to correct item class in Acuamtica. Thanks!

@mali94 , yes, the process for Stock Item is even simpler, since you don’t need to set up Attributes mapping.

Is there some documentation for that process? Thanks!

Thanks Yuri - I'm familiar with the general import process but the challenge I'm running into is around item class assignment at scale. When you have a large catalog with products that need to land in different item classes in Acumatica, running small batches and changing the default item class between each batch works but it's not exactly clean. I also thought about importing everything into one item class and then running an import scenario in Acumatica to reassign — but that feels like extra cleanup work. The more elegant solution I was exploring was mapping a BC custom field directly to the Item Class field in Acumatica via the Import Mapping - so the right item class gets assigned automatically on import based on what's in BC. Has anyone actually got that working? From what I've tested so far, custom fields don't seem to surface cleanly in the External Field dropdown on the mapping screen and I'm not sure if this is a supported path or a dead end.

@mali94 , we haven’t tried that. It’s trial and error approach, unless someone actually did it. You may also try to open a support case with Acumatica to find out if their people encountered such a scenario. Good luck!
