Question

Parameter Drop Down Box Filtered By Another Parameter

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hey All,

I was wondering if there is any way (without a customization project), to filter the drop down options of a parameter based on the selected value of another parameter.

In this case, I have selected the Inventory ID that I would like, then I want to select a BOM ID that is related with that Inventory ID.

But, currently, the parameter options are every single BOM ID. I have seen this a BOM Attributes Customization Project, where you pick the BOM ID,

and then you can pick a revision number, that is associated with that BOM ID.

But this is how my current parameter displays the drop down.

Does anyone know if I can get the BOM ID parameter to only show me BOM ID’s related to the InventoryID?

Thanks for your help.

@bodiec This requires a dependent relationship, which there is not one defined for the item and the BOM. If you did something similar on the AR Invoice primary list GI you would see that opening the selector for RefNbr would be blank if there were no Doc Type selected.

In order to be able to have something similar here you would probably need a custom table or SQL view which has this dependent relationship

@BenjaminCrisman Thank you for your response,

In order to create a dependent relationship, are you saying I need to create an entire custom data table?

Or do I need a custom relationship table?

@bodiec Sorry I didn’t see this update. You would need to create a custom table which can have this dependency. I wish I could help more on how to do this, but I’m not very good at creating DACs
