Line Notes on Packing List duplicating equal to number of packages

Hi All,

I know there has to be a bad join, but I have no idea what it might be.  Its a pretty simple packing list I’ve customized.  Small company, so I’ve had to teach myself SQL joins and everything about the Acumatica backend.

I recently moved the Line Note to a detail section to fix another issue and had this problem start immediately.  Whatever number of packages are added to the shipment, the line note duplicates that number of times.

I’ve uploaded a copy of the RPX file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @PDronne ,

The duplication is because of the join to the SOPackageDetailEx table.  If your goal is to include details from each package, I would recommend creating a subreport to display those details and passing the ShipmentNbr as a parameter to the subreport.

Hope this helps!

Hi @SunnyM ,

I would need to see your report.to answer specifically, but in general you can eliminate duplicates in reports by using a group and printing the details in the group header or footer, or by removing the vendor locations DAC and joins from the report schema and using a subreport instead to display those details.

Hope that helps!

Hi @lauraj46 here is a screen shot of that section in the report.

In the line detail there is a note and it duplicates it.

=[LineNote.NoteText]

=([LineNote.NoteText]<>Null And [LineNote.NoteText]<>'')

Hi @SunnyM ,

Please attach the rpx file for your report to this thread so that I can also see the database schema and the groupings.

Thanks,

Laura

Hi @SunnyM ,

I suspect that you are getting multiple detail records if the vendor offers the product with different units of measure.  Try adding this condition on your join: POLine.UOM = POVendorInventory.PurchaseUnit.

Hope this helps!

@lauraj46 didn’t prevent the note from duplicating on the PO.

Hi @SunnyM ,

OK.  I’m not sure, but there must still be something off with the joins.

Another approach is to print the note in a section that is grouped by POLine.  Right click on the Header of groupPOLine section and choose ‘Duplicate Section’.  Move the NOTE fields from the detailSection2 to the new section that you create and copy the visibility formula.

Hope this helps!

@lauraj46 shipment confirmation I was told the duplication of line items is due to the package tab having more than one line. Do you know how to fix that?

Hi @SunnyM ,

There are two ways to avoid duplicates in this situation:

  1. Remove the join to the packages DAC from the main report.  Create and embed a subreport that displays the relevant information (such as tracking number) from one or more packages related to the shipment.

OR

  1. Add a group on the shipment and line number.  Print line details in this section instead of the Details section of the report.  You will print the package details in the Details section.

Hope this helps.

@lauraj46 I will do some research into it. Never done either of them. Option 2 seems to be the quicker solution for this. Thank you.
