How to disable or hide the “Tools” menu (top right) for non-admin users?

Hello,

How to disable or hide the “Tools” menu (top right) for non-admin users in reporting / data views ?

We have already tried the following without success:

  • Removing access via roles, including Customizer and other non-admin roles

  • Restricting access to related system screens (Customization, Snapshots, System tools, etc.)

  • Verifying screen rights and form-level permissions in Access Rights by Role (SM201010)

Despite these restrictions, the “Tools” menu is still visible for users who should not have access to it (even if they cannot open all underlying screens).

Our questions:

  1. Is there a standard way to completely hide or disable the “Tools” menu based on roles?

  2. Is the visibility of this menu hardcoded or controlled by a specific permission or feature flag?

  3. Is a customization required to hide it, or is there a recommended best practice?

Any guidance or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Hello @Bela

There are some things in the Tools menu that can be hidden, such as Audit History and Access Rights, but the Tools menu itself cannot be hidden.

If the Client needs the Tools menu hidden, you may have to look into screen customization or enter a new product idea.

Thanks

Hi @Bela The menu itself cannot be hidden without customization but as @YasasWithanage76 said some access rights can be restricted

Hi all,

Thank you very much for your help 😊

Yes, I had seen that it was possible to hide the buttons through customization, and I had assumed that there might be a way to do it through settings/configuration.

@Bela  -

Just out of curiousity, what is the driver for complete button removal?
