Dynamic Date for a Scheduled Report (Email)

Hello!

I have a scenario where a user has requested a few reports (2 templates of the same report to be more specific) be automated to send weekly on Monday mornings. These templates have a Start and End Date parameter that need to be set to reflect data from the previous week.

Playing around with the updated template scheduling in 2025 R1, I can’t seem to find a way to have those dates be dynamic (i.e. Today and Today-7). Is there a “proper” way to set a date field to not be a static date in the email template?

@alexgillespie61 Unfortunately there is not, the date is pulled from the specifications in Report Designer and there is not a way to set a function on the date via the attached reports option or from the template

@alexgillespie61 For this type of situation, since the report is a pretty specific need, I would just copy the report and set the parameter to default from within Report Designer, this can be much easer to specify the options for Today() and Today()-7. Have you already tried this?

@BenjaminCrisman Thank you for the reply. While this would technically work, the issue in our case is that the report in question has many templates (20+). The current request is only asking for 2 of those templates, but I would not be surprised if it expands past that were we to make copies of those templates to fulfil it. Is there any way to set the date parameter to anything other than a static date in the “Attached Reports” tab of the email notification?

@BenjaminCrisman Apologies for letting this sit longer than it should have. That is a bit of a bummer that there isn’t a way to do this when emailing the report. I will investigate your suggestion of copying the report and setting the date fields by default and see how viable it is for the templates on the report in question. Thanks for the info!
