2026 R1 Acumatica ERP and Tools cannot be installed on the same computer

Has anyone else noticed this new limitation in 26R1?  I can’t have a local copy of Acumatica ERP and Acumatica Tools installed on the same computer?  Does anyone know why this limitation has been introduced?  As a partner and consultant, the need to have both installed locally is important for multiple reasons.

​@bcohen24 This is because the Acumatica configurator has the install options for tools. The tools are only used on computers where Acumatica is not installed locally.

      Is there a recommended way to install multiple versions of Tools (Report Designer) side by side?

      I’ve never really hit a need to, but I can see a situation coming up where using a different version of the Report Designer than the customer’s site could cause issues if any major updates happen behind the scenes, and my general preference is to use exact matching version if possible.

      ​@WillH There shouldn’t be an issue with different Report Designer versions. I’ve only known of a couple and it was when we added ‘Belongs To’ in the filters, would error if imported into lower builds of acumatica (like 2018 R2 was introduced I think), and then there was a more recent issue but that is fixed, I think it was 25 R1 Report Designer sign-in issues, but otherwise there should be no problems.
