Hi everyone,

When mid-sized and large companies in Vietnam evaluate Acumatica, one of the first questions we get is: "Can it run our Vietnam payroll?" Acumatica has no native payroll for Vietnam, so we want to share what makes payroll here different, and how we approached it with S4 eSuite Payroll, a module S4 Consulting built inside Acumatica.

What makes payroll in Vietnam different

  • Personal income tax is changing. The new PIT Law No. 109/2025/QH15 brings a 5-bracket schedule (5-10-20-30-35%) and family deductions of VND 15.5 million per month for the taxpayer and VND 6.2 million per dependant from the 2026 tax period. During the transition, the old 7-bracket schedule and the new one have to coexist, so the rates must be effective-dated, not hard-coded.
  • Regional minimum wages. Vietnam has four wage regions. Under Decree 293/2025/ND-CP, Region I is VND 5,310,000 per month from 1 January 2026, and pay and insurance checks depend on where each employee works.
  • Overtime and night work. Overtime and night-shift premiums follow Article 98 of the Labour Code and Decree 145/2020. The premium above normal pay is exempt from PIT, so it has to be calculated and tracked as a separate amount.
  • Casual workers and service contracts. Payments to non-contract workers are subject to 10% PIT withholding from VND 5 million per payment (Decree 253/2026/ND-CP). This is very common on construction sites.
  • Compulsory social, health and unemployment insurance for both employee and employer, on top of PIT.
  • Industry pay schemes that a generic payroll rarely covers: crew piece-rate pay based on accepted quantities and weekly crew payments in construction; 3-shift / 4-crew rotations, night shifts that cross midnight, late slips and overtime requests built from badge-swipe data, attendance bonuses and piece-rate pay in manufacturing.

How S4 eSuite Payroll works inside Acumatica

Payroll dashboard in Acumatica (Vietnamese UI): gross pay, net pay, employer insurance, PIT withheld, headcount, expiring contracts

  • Runs inside Acumatica on the same employees, branches and projects, so there is no separate payroll system to reconcile.
  • Effective-dated legal parameters (tax schedules, family deductions, regional minimum wages). When the law changes, you add a new parameter with its effective date instead of changing code.
Effective-dated statutory parameters with legal references: 2026 family deductions under Law 109/2025/QH15 next to the previous values, and regional minimum wages under Decree 293/2025/ND-CP

  • Earnings and allowances as configurable rules, e.g. attendance bonus, unit rates, progressive commissions, without programming.
  • Timekeeping imported from attendance-machine files, with a timesheet lock before payroll is calculated.

  • Multi-step approval with history, bilingual (Vietnamese/English) payslips and a payroll dashboard.
  • Posting to the GL by account, cost center and project, so project P&L includes actual labour cost. Manufacturing labour cost can be tracked by work center.
  • Multiple companies on one system, which suits multi-entity groups.

A question for the community

For those running Acumatica in countries without native payroll: how do you handle local payroll? An ISV module, a custom build, or an external payroll system with a GL integration? We would be glad to compare notes, especially on keeping legal parameters up to date when regulations change mid-year.

Disclosure: S4 Consulting is an Acumatica Gold Partner in Vietnam and the developer of S4 eSuite Payroll.
