I tried to change the database connection that was pointing to my Orange Pi Zero portable Linux server to my AWS MySQL Linux DB. It wanted to create the DB rather than just connecting to it. Is this normal or is there another method beyond the Acumatica ERP Configuration utility?

*** WARNING ***

If you are running Acumatica on a version < than R25.1 and plan to upgrade to R25.1, your DB will fail with a character set error after you login. This has been confirmed by another senior Acumatica developer as well. I tried multiple MariaDB versions with no luck.

Your option it to go back to Oracle MySQL 8 or use a Linux DB server running MariaDB 15.

A remote Linux MariaDB server runs faster than MS SQL running on the same server as Acumatica.

I wonder what Acumatica changed with a table(s) in R25.1 that broke the Windows version MariaDB? I've never seen a DB before with so many column character sets being used.

The issue is Acumatica uses Oracle MySQL 8 libraries with their MySQL offering. Nowhere in the install guide does Acumatica mention MariaDB as an option to Oracle MySQL.

The MariaDB for Windows is seriously behind its Linux version which works with Acumatica R25.1 and is at release level 15. This is what Clouds-R.Us is using as an Acumatica remote DB.

This example took a tenth of second to run.

When you are interfacing to an e-commerce site for example, and your interface receives a request, the response should be instant and not waiting for an Acumatica REST response that could cause the interface to timeout.

I should have put the output on my server to view.

I finally got $expand and $select to work. This is a reworked example of only returning the data elements I need. I also dumped the ScriptBasic associative array holding the Customer REST response.

This is the REST example running on Clouds-R.Us to compare with the SQL statement direct method I posted previously.

SQL: real 0m0.063s

REST: real 0m0.528s

I put the source and output in a text file on my server.

The metrics shows that the SQL operation took 63 milliseconds, while the REST operation took 528 milliseconds, indicating that SQL performed the task about 8.4 times faster.

I'm getting different result of number of customers in the Sales demo using REST and SQL direct. Is REST returning deleted customers as well?

I just ran my REST script to get a list of customers (121) and it took just under 5 minutes to return its results. The next run was almost instant. How do developers deal with the waking up of Acumatica and the delays.

This is never an issue when reading the DB with SQL directly.

The Generic Inquiry has become a 'sandbox' for me creating direct SQL statements. It would be nice if GI would show the SQL statement created for the preview display.

It seems GI creates SQL syntax for MS SQL even though I'm using MySQL.

Customer Summary shows columns belonging to the Customer table when they belong to BAccount. When you click on. Column names the case for the first character turns to lower case.

I'm finding GI worthless for creating SQL statements.
