Question

multiply or divide when concerting from one unit to another on stock item configuration

Please see the screenshot below. My understanding is that a LBS = 16 OZ, so when the FROM unit is LBS, it should be divided 16 to OZ, which is “To unit”.

But why Acumatica shows “LBS Multiply 16 to OZ”, this is very confusing

@ywang The "To Unit" is your UOM, where you define in the conversion section how many Each are required to make up 1 OZ, based on the example above

Please refer to the acumatica help document where the conversion is explained in detail.

This is correct and you’re not alone - many folks get hung-up on this topic, because, let’s face it, who enjoyed algebra?

The question that is being answered with this configuration is “how many ounces are there in a pound?”   If 1 pound equals 16 ounces, then to convert LBS to OZ, you multiply the number of LBS by 16(e.g. 2 LBS = 32 OZ or 2*16 = 32); conversely, if you want to know how many pounds you have based on your ounces, you divide your OZ by 16 (e.g. 32 OZ = 2 lbs or 32/16 = 2).

Hope that helps.
