Manufacturing order - create releases (blanket order)

I have customer who regularly gets orders from the government with quantities between 50,000 - 150,000.

These are usually scheduled over a period of months.

They would like to be able to create a manufacturing order for the total monthly quantity and then release smaller (unique) batches to the shop floor and be able to track those batches through clock in/out entries by shop floor personnel.

If they created individual manufacturing orders for each of the batches, there would be in excess of 100 manufacturing orders for each monthly delivery and the maintenance would be prohibitive.

Thoughts?
