As you have correctly identified, mfg to inventory is a calculated value and is the value is the result of the calculation. The calculation used is dependent on the costing method of the production order. For details and examples regarding how this value is calculated please see:

The $354.21 operation MFG to Inventory is the summary of material $270.01 and labor $84.20.
Then $84.20 is added to $354.21 to get $438.41.
Are we adding the labor twice?
Confusing!
