If I set up a substitution item for a stock item, will inventory planning take that information into account?

I’m trying to figure out how much seed to order, but we are discontinuing one variety for a different variety, and expect to sell the same amount of seed. We have a forecast established but ideally I would want the new seed to show up on the inventory planning for purchasing purposes.

@SBaldwin  - I’m wondering if you can set up a Planning Bill of Material to use until you deplete your inventory? It might be worth testing?  (If it’s just one item)
