Cannot revoke access rights to Unit Cost and Planned Cost fields on a Bill of Materials

Question

I want to grant access to an existing Acumatica User Role to View Only rights for Bill of Material. I grant that access via Bills of Material > Bill of Material. However, the owner doesn’t want the users to see the Unit Cost and Planned Cost data fields for Materials.

I have come at this from both Access Rights by Role and Access Rights by Screen. Locating the target fields is straightforward in Bills of Material > Bill of Material > BOM Material. Revoking those fields via either Access Rights forms makes no difference. Acumatica always displays the cost fields.

I feel like I have accomplished quite a bit via Access Rights, but this just doesn’t seem to work. How can I revoke access to these fields?

In the Access Rights by Role, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Select the BOM module in the tree click the Bills Of Material Screen and change the BOM Materials access from Inherited to Delete.

Step 2: Open BOM Material and set the Unit Cost field to Revoked.

Here arethe exact settingsI used:1 Bills of Material> Bill of Material: View Only2 Bills of Material > Bill of Material > BOM Material: View Only3 Bills of Material > Bill of Material > BOM Material > Planned Cost: Revoked4 Bills of Material > Bill of Material > BOM Material > UnitCost: RevokedI was leaving line 2 as Inherited, which SHOULD inherit View Only from line 1, butlines 3 and 4 didn’t work. Your post taught me to take the seemingly unnecessary step of setting line 2 as View Only and presto, lines 3 and 4 work.Thanks!
