I am needing to add a custom “Sort Code” column in the Stock Items screen (IN2025PL). I am a new user and seem to be stuck.

I would add an Attribute (CS205000) and assign it to the applicable Item Classes (IN201000). When an Item Class is chosen on an Item, the new attribute will be available on the ‘Attributes’ tab.
Then you can add the attribute column to the GI.
I have watched the videos and still cant find how to add a custom sort code column maybe I am watching the wrong ones. I have reached out to a rep but really wanted to get this solved. Once I get it I will know if forever though.

A new column, to be named 'sort code', that will contain a numerical value. This column's purpose is to allow the data to be sorted in descending order based on its values.

+17The only way this is possible is if you add a custom field (or attribute) to the Stock Item itself (IN202500), which you would add the the GI’s ‘Results’ tab.
From the sound of things, I’m not sure this is what you’re going for, but you cannot edit values in a GI. True GIs are only ever readonly. There are screens that look very much like GIs that you CAN edit, but they are not true GIs.
Does the data show anywhere on the stock items files? It can’t just pull info that doesn’t exist in a file.
That makes perfect sense. I now understand that a Generic Inquiry is read-only.
Where exactly on the Stock Items file (IN202500) can I add that custom field so that it holds the value I need to assign? I keep looking for UDF or something.
I also spent some time in Customization Projects but failed there first. Makes since that I should create a data field or something.
