For example, M &T Bank as bank name is rejected when entering data. A developer can change the regular expression to “fix” this but will this cause issues with banks?

Hello,
Nacha.org provides ACH file specs and all banks follow one of the two standards (Balanced file, or non-balanced). Several fields are defined as “Alphanumeric,” meaning letters and numbers, not symbols. ACH file specifications can be found on NACHA.org. (link)
Banks will accept a test file; sending a test file to your bank is the best way to determine whether your bank accepts your file.
Good luck,
Laura
