Hi Acumatica Community,

I have a COGS versus revenue gl/subaccount problem.

We want to have one branch. Think of our finished good product mix as follows:

  1. We sell road bikes (some battery powered) with a various set of product lines.
  2. We sell off-road bikes (some battery powered) with a various set of product lines.

Many of the component parts and some of the finished goods are interchangeable for the road bikes and the off-road bikes and we have them all in one warehouse.

Of course we would like to measure COGS versus revenue.

We have decided to have our order entry staff select a customer location which will then identify the subaccount for revenue associated with the product line.

From an inventory posting class perspective, we are not sure how to set-up the posting class so that for a given sales order line, the inventory transactions and the light manufacturing are associated with the same subaccount.

Thanks,

Patrick

So unfortunately on the posting class sales subaccount your three options are posting class, warehouse, or inventory item, none of which necessarily line up with customer location if I am understanding your setup correctly.

HOWEVER - you can enable a feature called custom order types allowing you to combine sales sub from customer location (LLL) like below. I think this is your best bet.

To your original question I don’t think the posting class sales sub matters because I am recommending you pull from somewhere else.

Thank you for responding to my post, I did listen to the videos.

As of now, we are looking into having a shipping staging (perhaps bin(s)) where we have our pickers stage orders for our shipping staff. From there, we are thinking perhaps a business event could then move the staged shipping inventory to a warehouse with subaccounts corresponding to the customer location subaccounts thus allowing us to better understand cost to revenue for our various lines of business.
