Reclassify Posting Date

Is there a way to reclassify a posting date rather than reversing the transaction and creating it again in the correct posting date period?

Hello @bnastasi ,

When we reclassify transactions, we can change the date at the same time we are choosing a new account or subaccount or company.  However, we cannot change the Post Period when reclassifying.

If a transaction has been posted to the wrong period, the next steps are to reverse the transaction and re-enter, as you mentioned. Some time can be saved by using Copy/Paste to re-enter, then adjusting the period to the correct posting period on the pasted transaction or document.

I’ve created this idea because there are reasons that the reclassify process is preferable to use to keep the link with the original transaction, but not post it into an older period.

 


I am trying to reclassify the date in the same period from 31/01/2026 to 25/1/2026 but it does not check the box in front and no processing can be done. It also does not let me select the lines for processing.

Can we not change the date on the reclassification screen without reclassifying any other detail?

I have noticed that it’s not possible to use Reclassify features to change Transaction Description only. If I change an Account, SubAccount or Branch, then it’s possible to also change Transaction Description.

I expect you are correct - we likely cannot change Dates unless we are also reclassifying to a different  Account, SubAccount or Branch. Did you try to reclassify with at least one other field named?  If it’s very important to change the date, you could do 2 reclassifications, such as to a different Account with Date change, and then back to the original Account.
