Landed Cost - Entire Cost posted to Landed Cost Variance instead of Inventory after Transfer

Hi everyone,

I am facing an issue with Landed Cost allocation in Acumatica and would like to seek your advice on whether this is a standard system behavior or a configuration/process issue.

Here is my scenario:

  1. Valuation Method: The stock item uses Average cost valuation.

  2. Receipt: I received 100 units into Warehouse A (Location: INV).

  3. Transfer: Immediately after the receipt, I transferred all 100 units from Warehouse A to Warehouse B. So, the quantity in the original receipt cost layer at Warehouse A is now 0.

  4. Landed Cost: Afterwards, I created and released a Landed Cost document allocated to this receipt.

  5. Result: When the Landed Cost document was released, the system generated an Inventory Adjustment. However, the entire Landed Cost amount was posted to the Landed Cost Variance Account (which is mapped to my COGS account). Nothing was added to the Inventory Account.

I want the system to follow this logic:

  • If the goods are still in stock (not sold), even if they have been transferred to another warehouse, the Landed Cost should be capitalized into the Inventory Account.

  • If the goods have been sold, the Landed Cost should be posted to the Landed Cost Variance Account (COGS).

---

Since the goods were only transferred between warehouses and not yet sold, how can I configure the system so that the Landed Cost is capitalized into the Inventory Account instead of being posted entirely to the Landed Cost Variance Account?

I appreciate any insights or experiences you can share!

Thank you!

Good day,

Please vote for improvements to Landed Cost here.

It is a known feature that Landed Cost will only apply to the first warehouse.  On partial or full shipment out of the original warehouse, Acumatica posts to Landed Cost Variance, a COGS account.

Hi,

First,  the allocation mode of the purchase price variance allocation option must be set to Inventory Account at the Purchase Orders Preferences screen.

Second,  the only way that I know that the value of the goods transfered is affected by landed cost is if you go  through  the SO transfer → Shipment → Update IN (that creates the inventory transfer)→ Purchase receipt of transfer type (creates the inventory receipt linked to the transfer).

We already automated this via business events. Replenishment can suggest the SO transfer order  (TR type).
