Journal Transaction Report without Subaccount

I’m trying to modify the existing Journal Transaction report to ignore subaccounts.  We have subaccount enabled in our set up but it is only meaningful in certain situations.  When I want to look at the activity in an ACCOUNT, I don’t want it broken up by subaccount.

I know the GLHistory tables are used to pull the opening balances and they are organized by account & subaccount.

When I try to collapse the grouping around subaccount I get garbage for opening balances.

I’ve also tried abandoning the GLHistory table and have built up the opening balance by pulling in all records from GLTRAN and totaling all of the DR/(CR)’s prior to the period I want.  But, I can’t get that calculated variable to pass from the detail section of the report to the header section for the account.

Can anyone suggest an approach to either pull the combined records from GLHISTORY or how to pass a variable from a detail section BACK to a header section.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried modifying the Transactions for Period Report and removing the Sub.SubCD from the Schema?

Hi @RHarrison

Is the Journal Transaction report you mentioned the Transactions for Period report (GL.63.30.00)? Currently, the Transactions for Period report will group by Subaccount.

You can use the Transactions for Account report (GL.63.35.00) which will not group by Subaccount as you wish.

I am also interested in a GL detail report that groups on account instead of subaccount

For us, Transactions for Period report is perfect except for displaying opening/closing per subaccount instead of per account.

Transactions for Account report would be perfect if it could be run for more than one account at a time.

I have also tried modifying both of these reports to suit but cannot get the opening/closing balances correct

Yes, that doesn’t work.  It messes up the opening balances.

Yes, agreed.  But then you can’t run it for a range of accounts.
