Our acumatica system has open periods all the way back to 2015 , is it okay to close multiple periods at a time ? Will there be any system resource issue ?

Yes, absolutely, you may close them at the same time. Select the highest, most recent period to be closed. Acumatica will automatically select all prior periods and will try to close them at the same time.
Acumatica will identify any periods with unreleased/ unposted batches or documents, in the periods you are trying to close.
If any period has unreleased/unposted batches, Acumatica will close up to the period that has unreleased batches and will stop. You may delete, release, or change the period on the unreleased batches and try again. There is a report inside the Closing/Period Management screens that helps to identify the batch numbers that are unreleased or unposted.
