We need to the ability to have negative quantities on service orders so we can return items from a customer and back into inventory, while giving the customer credit for that return.
Service Orders need ability to have negative quantities

Hi
Acumatica already has a standard return process that is designed for exactly this scenario.
Recommended approach: Service Order → Return Order / Credit Memo
If you are referring to Service Orders (FS300100), the cleanest approach is generally to have the service process create/process a return transaction, rather than making the service order's quantity itself negative.
Acumatica's standard Sales Order functionality supports negative quantities for return-capable order types. In particular, an order type configured with both Issue and Receipt operations changes a negative quantity to a Receipt operation, meaning the inventory comes back into the warehouse.
Acumatica's standard RC – Return for Credit order type is specifically designed for:
- Customer returns an item.
- Item is received back into inventory.
- Customer receives a credit memo.
Acumatica documents this exact flow: RC is used to authorize a customer return for credit, with the returned goods going from the customer to inventory and a credit memo generated for the customer.
On SO301000, Acumatica has a More → Create Service Order action. The documentation states that this creates the Service Order on FS300100, and only one Service Order can be created for each Sales Order.

Hope this helps!
