Question

System tenant

I’m working through S110_System_Security_2026R1 and got a bit confused about the wording around “creating a system tenant.”

From my understanding, the system tenant is automatically created with the instance and isn’t something we manually create -  we only create non-system tenants.

However, the guide says, “when you create a system tenant,” which makes it sound like a manual action.

  • Is there ever a scenario where we actually create a system tenant ourselves?
  • Or should this read.. “when you create a new tenant, you may be signed out after its creation,...”

For context, I’m working on a local instance that initially had a single tenant.

During instance setup, a tenant is created based on the data imported or selected during configuration. By default, a Company tenant is created.

If you create additional tenants afterward, the system will log the user out and redirect to the main login page. The user must then select the desired tenant and log in using either the default credentials or their user-specific login.

Understood, but I thought system tenant was something invisible, in the background that is created automatically? So, when we create additional tenants, we are creating additional non-system tenants, but there is always only one invisible system tenant running in the background? It’s the wording of the training material that I found confusing - but I think I understand now. Thank you!
