Reading the ACU documentation and it's not abundantly clear...
When you publish a Customization, do you need to have the Role of "Customizer" assigned to a user in order for them to access the screens it has created or edited?
and/or is this embedded in the Access Rights portion of the customization?

They do not need to have the customizer role to view screens, it would be embedded in the Access Rights. Check under the Hidden section:
