Is it possible for the vendor ID number to be auto generated with the first 3 letters of the vendor, a number to differentiate vendors with the same first 3 letters, and then a V at the end upon vendor creation?

For example, when I add a vendor for West Side Materials, have the system automatically create the vendor ID WES001V. Then add Wesley’s Supplies Co. and have the system create the ID WES002V.

Thank you all for your time!

Hello, what you are requesting might be possible with a developer writing custom code for you. I hope a developer will come along to answer what can be done with custom code.

It’s not possible with standard features of the system, to have the system auto-fill segment one with the first three letters of the vendor’s name (ABC for example), then have the system auto-number the second segment by counting the first segment (How many previous vendors started with ABC?), then have the system auto-fill the third segment with V.

Only 1 segment can be auto-numbered using standard Acumatica segmenting & numbering features.

HI @aidenwills15

It seems you are looking for more of the concatenate function that excel offers. Acumatica does not have this out of the box, as @laura01  you would need a customization or you could set up you import with the vendor ID already populated. Or use the above suggestions and segement the vendor ID.

@kdt if you don’t get a response here, you may want to create a new post asking the question. This post is a bit old and may not draw attention.
