Hello all,

I have created PO from SO with the line items with different vendors. Whereas upon processing the PO, it triggers the following error. How to resolve this? I assume multiple POs are allowed to be processed from a single source of SO.

Hi @Harry ,

In your screenshot I only see one sales order detail line.  Each sales order line can only be linked to one PO.  If you are sourcing the same item from multiple vendors you would need to split the qty between two sales order lines.

Hope this helps!

Laura

@lauraj46 ,

FYI, I have created a new SO now:

processed to create 2 POs.

And when I remove the PO from hold it triggers the below:

@Harry, yes. One sales order can feed several drop-ship POs. Create Purchase Order groups the lines by vendor, so two vendors get two POs. Your second screenshot shows exactly that: 000158 on the first line and 000159 on the second. That matches the one-PO-per-line rule @lauraj46 described.

The error is the part that doesn't fit. "Another PO with the same related SO already exists. Multiple POs cannot be created for the same SO." isn't a stock Acumatica message. It's not in the stock code from 2024 R2 through 2026 R1, so on those versions something added to your site is raising it.

Your Sales Orders screen also shows fields that aren't stock, like Status of PO and WCOrder. Check what's published on Customization Projects (SM204505) and take that message text to whoever built it.

Hi @Harry ,

The additional screenshots are helpful.  I agree with @Steve Milner  that this behavior is very likely related to a customization.

So @lauraj46 / @Steve Milner ,

Do you mean it might be related to customization that it is triggering the error?

Hi @Harry ,

Yes, that is correct.  If you have access to the Customization Projects screen you can find the list of published projects there.

Hi @Harry,

I was able to reproduce the same business scenario in a standard environment and did not encounter the error.

For testing, I created a Sales Order with three lines assigned to different vendors and marked all lines for PO creation. The system successfully created three separate Purchase Orders from the same Sales Order.

I was also able to remove each Purchase Order from hold without any errors.

Based on this test, creating multiple Purchase Orders from a single Sales Order appears to be supported in the base system. Since the error message indicates that multiple POs cannot be created for the same SO, it may be worth reviewing any active customizations or third-party extensions that could be affecting the validation logic.

Could you please test the same scenario with all customizations unpublished in a test environment and let us know if the issue persists?

I've included screenshots from my testing for reference.
