Replenishment for kits

I have a situation where kits will be produced in one warehouse then transferred to another warehouse using at transfer sales order.  However, when I plan replenishments and don’t have a replenishment method assigned to the kit items in the production warehouse, I cannot get an amount to process in the prepare replenishment grid.

I could set up bogus replenishment parameters, but want to avoid that.

Any help on planning replenishments for kits?  I think maybe there is a gap here.

Thanks,

Dennis

What do you plan to use the ‘Inventory Replenishment’ functionality for - generating transfer orders from Produciton Warehouse or for generating Kit Assembly ? The  ‘Inventory Replenishment’ can;t generate Kit Assemblies - you need the Manufacturing Module with Materials Requirements Planning

Thanks Mark,

There are a couple of things at work here. First, if i sell a non-stock kit, i cannot see the component demand in replenishment grid. So i don’t know to purchase them.

Second, if i am a distributor that does have stock kits and need to be able to plan replenishments, I would like to be able to keep that replenishment process the same as my purchasing.  Requiring the manufacturing modules so i have to set up BOMs and run MRP for simple kit replenishment turns my attention to packages for distributors that will manage kit replenishment and away from Acumatica.

I am trying to build a solution for a distributor, not a manufacturer. If manufacturing is the only way, I will add to the ideas page.

Thank you,

Dennis

Hello All,

I know this conversation is a year old, but I have exactly the same situation today.  Has anyone found a solution short of recommending Manufacturing for Kit Replenishment?

Thanks,

Michael Scott

Does the Distribution Replenishment Processing (MRP for Distribution) support this requirement? Also looking for a process to support replenishment planning of Kits for a Distribution customer.

As I know, the replenishment from distribution does not create the demand for kit items and components.
For all: please advise if there’s a solution of generating replenishment for kit components based on kit assembly or sales order.

Create a GI with Kit Items out of stock on Sales Orders and expand it to show components on the Kit Specification

DRP - Distribution Requirements Planning will be supported in 24R1 Release. It does support non-stock kit component planning.  This is for Distributors that want to do time phased planning.

We have a distributor with many, many kits.  Both stock and non-stock and kits with options. The options are handled with a the Biz-Tech customization. Inventory Replenishment does not process stock kits and that is a gap.  We created a Reorder report for stock kits (GI).  Do any of the 3rd party products like NetStock or Easy Stock have a solution?  There are 3rd party light manufacturing solutions but none do not seem to address replenishment planning.

@dgodsill97 have you looked at DRP?

It was not available when sales sold it.  DRP does not support min/max replenishment.  There is not a way to import historical sales for Generate Forecast (NetStock claims to do that),  Changing the planning method to DRP, removes the Inventory Replenishment tab so you can no longer use the Calculate Replenishment Parameters for SS and ROP.

But it does support forecasting non-stock kits.

@eolivier39 I was thinking the same. Do you happen to have an example of a GI that you created for a slide out on the Kit Spec screen?

We are testing to implement Kits and Multiple Warehouse config and need to decide whether to use DRP or not.

Came to the Community to see if there was a solution to Inventory replenishment for kit component Items. We are at the point where we thought the Kit Assemblies would be included in the CAP in Inventory Replen for the component items but it doesn’t appear to be.

Any solutions? We are testing to keep Inventory Replenishment for all Purchase source items (as DRP is not a good fit for imported items with long lead times) and DRP for Kits and Transfers (to replenish multi warehouses).

Only DRP supports kits.  And DRP is superior to inventory replenishment for long lead time items because supports forecasts.  And DRP handles transfer replenishment better than IR because it can plan transfers based on destination and source warehouses.

DRP was introduced in 24R1 https://help-2024r1.acumatica.com/Help?ScreenId=ShowWiki&pageid=1ee29e25-5bbc-4f39-8609-436253a36387
