Hi everyone,

I’m looking for guidance from the community on a matrix item performance issue we’re encountering.

Background

We have a client that relies heavily on matrix items, with a single attribute (Color) that currently has 6000+ values and continues to grow. This is due to vendors introducing many unique color variations over time.

Problem

We are seeing significant performance issues when working with template items:

  • Template screen takes a long time to load
  • System performance degrades noticeably
  • In some cases, the screen becomes nearly unusable

It appears the system is attempting to process a very large number of attribute values when loading the template.

Constraint

Breaking the attribute into multiple attributes is not an option for this client because:

  • It would disrupt their current product structure
  • It would negatively impact SEO and eCommerce product organization

Questions

  • Has anyone dealt with very large attribute value sets (thousands) in Acumatica?
  • Are there any best practices for managing matrix items at this scale?
  • Any known performance tuning options or limitations with attributes/matrix items?
  • Has anyone implemented a custom workaround (e.g., limiting load, alternative UI, etc.)?

We’re trying to understand whether this is a known limitation and what viable paths others have taken without restructuring the attribute.

Appreciate any insights or direction.

Thanks,

Nirav
