Is there a way to limit the number of characters or set a mask for a lot or serial number?

The user would enter the serial number when it is received, but I want to limit the length and format of the number.

    Hi ​@jbuddecke71 

    The "Auto-Incremental Value" feature set in the "Lot/Serial Classes" screen can help limit the number of characters of a Lot/Serial number.

      Thanks for the input. That can work well for a manufacturer. My client is a distributor receiving machinery that they sell and I am hoping to constraint the numbers they can enter upon receipt. I can “suggest” the format with the existing tools but haven’t found a way to limit it.
