Hi All,

I know that the system will create demand based on historical data, but how far back will that go?

If I have a client that has been using Acumatica for a year and they turn on replenishment now, do we turn on the moving average and update to 12 months and it will calculate the last year of transactions?

Thanks!

HI @josborn02

I tested in my local version with the legos and turned on Moving Average. Once I did that and went to Calculate Replenishment Parameters, it brought in new safety stock, Max qty and such. So, as long as the data is there for orders and such, it works as expected.

Hi Kandy! I was just looking into this yesterday.  You can configure this at the Item Class level or the Stock Item level.  Item Class level will default all stock items in the same class to the same demand forecast parameters but they can be overridden at the stock item level for specific stock items.

Hi @josborn02

Did you happen to test with historical data?

Yes, it only works with Sales/Production/Transfer order demand.  It doesn’t consider inventory adjustments of physical inventory related transactions “usage”.

What happens at implementation if the history is not in system, can i preload sales history (demand) into any other table(s) instead?

It’s common for the Acumatica partner performing your implementation to load some historical transaction data.  This depends on who your partner is and how far they are planning to go back.  1-3 years of sales data is not uncommon.  In this case, you will not need to preload anything.

Sales history with transaction dates pre go-live is loaded using the import scenario tool, however this can get tricky because it also has financial calendar and general ledger implications.  I recommend getting assistance from your implementation partner.

So load it as sales orders with another order type, but load with 0 open quantities (Completed) right?

Correct, you will load it with zero open quantity.  There are other considerations for importing sales orders and the order in which you build your import scenario.  I suggest testing with one order first to ensure you get the intended result.  You also want to confirm the sales order status is ‘Completed’ after the import.
