Difference Between Product Inventory ID and Parent Inventory ID on 'Inventory planning Results by Item' screen.

Parent Inventory ID – the immediate parent/assembly that directly requires the material.
Product Inventory ID – the top-level finished product that ultimately drives the requirement.

So, Parent Inventory ID = immediate BOM parent, while Product Inventory ID = top-level product creating the demand.

Product Inventory ID

• This is the actual item being planned.
• It’s the item whose demand, supply, and projected quantities you are viewing in the planning results.

Parent Inventory ID

• This is the item that requires the current item as a component.
• It appears when the item is used as a material or subassembly in another item (for example in a BOM or production order).
