We do a lot of production, utilizing Acumaticas Kit Specifications/Kit Assembly. However, the cost on the Stock Item and Kit Specification rarely matches. Any reason why these 2 don’t match, when they should? Thanks!

Hello @CodyK ,

What is the valuation method on the Component item?  What is the valuation method on the Kit item?

Can you post screenshots of a the In Balance or IN Valuation report to show us the cost of a component item prior to kit assembly, and show us the resulting cost of the same item when added to the kit?

Thank you.

Hi @CodyK  The cost of a Stock Item is updated based on the costing method selected (such as FIFO, Average, etc.) and inventory transactions. If there have been recent transactions affecting the cost of the stock item, but the cost on the Kit Specification has not been updated yet, the costs may differ. Additionally, review the costing method, valuation method, and any manual overrides in the Kit Specification to ensure consistency with the Stock Items.

Thank you. Does the cost of the Kit Spec update when a Kit is assembled or when/how?

Depending on the Valuation Method, the cost of the item may always be the same (standard cost), may be assigned when received, may be assigned when used from inventory, etc.

This is why we ask for your Valuation Method.

The items in question are the same item. Example: PART XYZ is $244.8133 in Inventory Valuation. $177.633 in Kit Specifications and $177.69 on Last Cost on Stock Items. Currently the Valuation Method is AVERAGE
