Barcode commands in report designer

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Many of our customers find it very annoying that they have to manually touch the “Set Qty” button on their mobile devices in order to set the quantity being picked/packed/shipped.

We are trying to include the Set Qty command (*qty) as a barcode on the picklist report so that they can scan that command and then scan the barcode for the quantity (since there’s no way to set the mobile device to default to the shipping quantity).

I can’t find the right way to format the command on the report so that the barcode scanner will read it and put the device in Set Qty mode.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi @donnadeskins55

If you set the item up as a Weight Item in the Stock Item setting (even if it’s not a weight item), you can achieve this.

Then during picking, the user is prompted to scan/specify the quantity.

Many customers have opted to do this to achieve exactly what you describe.

You need to change it to *qty

Hi @Dana Moffat

If we do that, does it affect other functionality in the system that may not be desired?

Thanks!

@donnadeskins55 you would need to test it.  this is a workaround that several customers have implemented.
