We have process request to create a spit shipment (new shipment confirmation) from the shipment confirmation lines when needed.  Is this possible?

Hi @nshah90,

Thank you for your question.

No, you cannot split a shipment after it has been confirmed.

In Acumatica, partial shipments are created before confirmation, not from the shipment confirmation lines.

How it works instead:

  • When creating the shipment, enter a shipped quantity lower than the ordered quantity.
  • Confirm that shipment.
  • Then create another shipment for the remaining quantity.

This results in multiple partial shipment documents for the same sales order, and each can be billed separately if needed.

So the split happens during shipment creation, not from the confirmation screen.

Thank you.  I was hoping we can split (create a new shipment) from one already opened shipment.

Thank you for the clarification.

You cannot split an already opened shipment into a new shipment from the same shipment screen.

Key limitation:

  • For a given sales order and warehouse, there can be only one open shipment at a time
  • Because of this, the system does not allow creating another shipment from the lines of an existing open shipment.

What you can do instead:

  • Create a new shipment document from the sales order and ship the remaining quantity.
  • If the shipment is already confirmed, you can use Correct Shipment to reopen it and adjust it before confirming again.

So the split always happens by creating a separate shipment document, not by splitting the existing one.
