Key for Project Transaction Details obtained from API

When using the REST API to get ProjectTransaction data, the detail items don’t seem to have a line number, where as the detail for JournalTransaction does have a line number. Does anyone know a good way to determine the unique key for the detail items of a project transaction as obtained using the REST API client?  I’m trying to determine a unique key based on the key of the parent transaction (Module, ReferenceNbr) and information from the detail items. I’m assuming that the GUID value of the detail items is not persistent in the same manner as for top-level entities.

I would prefer not to develop a customization for this; having sufficient key fields in the API data should be part of the system already.

@tdkannel there is “id” field in each API entity. Would that work for you?

The ID values are not persistent for detail entities, according to the documentation page titled “Retrieve a Record by ID”. I need a key that would be the same over time.

@tdkannel the id is persistent for ProjectTransaction (both header and details).

We’ll update the documentation to state it more clearly.

@Dmitrii Naumov OK, thanks for that clarification; that will help to use the id.

I have a related question that maybe you can answer. The client library source code states that ProjectBudget has key fields ProjectID, ProjectTaskID, CostCode, AccountGroup, InventoryID. However, there is data that is clearly not unique based on those five fields. Would you suggest using the ID for that data as well and why does that key information seem incorrect?

@tdkannel  you can use ID there too. However, I’m not sure how it may be the case that these key field combinations are not unique. These fields are parts of the DB level primary key, so they do guarantee uniqueness.

If it’s not the case, there is something very wrong and I’d recommend investigating that or creating a support case.

@Dmitrii Naumov The uniqueness of the budget items is being impacted by cost codes. The data that I’m looking at is from an on-prem instance for development that does not have cost codes enabled but the data was restored using a snapshot from a SaaS tenant that has example data provided by Acumatica which does have cost codes. The API data from the on-prem instance isn’t including the CostCode field, so my code was applying a default. Is it expected that the API would exclude available data like that based on system configuration?

@tdkannel I see. You can use the id then, for sure.
Yes, it’s expected that if a feature is not enabled, then the field is hidden from API.
