Report Designer - Preview in PDF by default?

It’s clear that the Preview function in Acumatica Report Designer does not align with the PDF output produced by Acumatica. You can set a report to produce PDF output by default: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/54804369/acumatica-report-design-different-when-printed

 

But is there a way to have Report Designer show the PDF output by default in the preview tab? It would be a lot easier to design for PDF output if we could see what that looks like in the Report Designer.

Hi, @rosenjon  I don’t think PDF format is available in the Preview (currently, we can see only the Report format in preview).

According to me this would be a great IDEA and please submit it in the IDEAS forum for future consideration.

Hi @rosenjon 

 

You can set default report preview format to pdf by setting ‘ViewPDF’ property to ‘True’ for specific report using reports designer. 

When the above value is set to ‘True’, on report print parameter window, the ‘Print in PDF format’ option gets selected by default.

@Naveen B You were correct. I was looking to preview in PDF inside Report Designer, with the Preview tab.

@vkumar is also correct. I did switch to automatic PDF generation via ViewPDF, as he mentioned. However, this requires running the report inside Acumatica in order to see the output. The question related to whether we can see PDF output via the Preview tab in Report Designer, which would be a lot more convenient when doing development.

@Naveen B I don’t have access to ideas (I am not officially a customer yet, so I don’t have access to this area. I did request access, but no one has given it to me yet).
