We have recently upgraded to 2025R2 and with modern UI on our Change Orders require to be released after final approval. With Classic UI it still works as expected where Final Approval results in Status Closed

How do I update the modern UI to go straight to Status Closed after final approval instead of Open → Release

@Garbhanm4  Hi

Could you please check the package level? The same graph is being used by two packages, so sometimes our automation does not work as expected.

Please set your package to a higher level. If it still doesn’t work, please try the options below.

  • Automation Schedule (no code, simplest). Go to Automation Schedules (SM205020) and create a schedule for screen PM308000. Add a filter for Status = Open (and any other conditions, such as a specific Change Order class), and set the action to Release. Run it every few minutes. It isn't instant, but it's easy to maintain and upgrade-safe.
  • Workflow customization. In the Customization Project's workflow editor for Change Orders, you can adjust the transitions and add automatic handling so that approved orders go straight to release. This is more immediate but needs care, because the release logic has validations (budget, commitments, and so on).
  • Graph extension. A developer can extend ChangeOrderEntry to call the release process once the approval completes. This is the most immediate option and the most work to maintain.

In 2025 R2, Modern UI itself should not change the underlying workflow. If Classic UI goes Pending Approval → Closed but Modern UI goes Pending Approval → Open, check your Change Order workflow/customization.
The solution is to configure the workflow so that final approval triggers the Release action, rather than only changing the status to Open. Avoid directly setting the status to Closed, because the Release action performs the required Change Order processing.
